3 year Shiatsu Therapy Diploma

  • 2013
  • Cork School of Shiatsu

Follows on from the 1 year Bodywork Certificate

Although part time, these 1 and 3 Year courses require commitment, focus, time and energy. Study and practice are essential for completion of the course.

People learn shiatsu for many different reasons, not all want to practice professionally. Some come to expand their self awareness and understanding of the fundamental workings of the body-mind. Many are transformed in the process. The experiential nature of the course nurtures sensitivity and skill with body mechanics, (eg. stretching, rotating etc), and Qi, that basic life force that animates the potential within. Practice, both supervised and at home, challenges and integrates the learning, thus building confidence and humility essential for clinical application.

Shiatsu Foundation Course

  • 22/23 June 2013
  • Shiatsu College Dublin
  • 10.00am-4.00pm
  • Cost: €160 for 2 days

This Shiatsu Foundation Course takes place over one weekend. The focus will be on developing your own sensitivity and understanding of the body, discovering how imbalances arise and how they can be corrected. This foundation course provides good grounding in the healing art of Shiatsu for qualified massage therapists who wish to incorporate new techniques into their practice and for beginners who seek basic skills in Shiatsu for use amongst family and friends.

The course covers essential aspects of Shiatsu:

  • Full Body Routine - a simple safe Shiatsu for family and friends
  • Principles of Shiatsu Technique
  • Introduction to the Classical Meridian System
  • Introduction to pressure points and how to treat common ailments
  • Do-in Japanese exercises and self-shiatsu techniques & Qi Gong

It is a complete elementary course in its own right and upon completion and if you are still fascinated by Shiatsu, you can then go on to do further studies at the college.

Course teacher: Fionuala O'Hare

Venue: Open Mind Yoga, Pearse St. Dublin
